About The Social Mission Alliance Conference

Moving the Dial on Social Mission:
Ensuring Health Professions Education Meets the Challenges of Today

The Social Mission Alliance is a national movement, focused on health equity and training health professionals as agents of more equitable health care. This movement takes us beyond centuries-old conventions in health professional education to train providers prepared to build a system that is not only better, but fairer. The broad themes of social mission include social determinants of health, community engagement, disparity reduction, diversity promotion and value-based health care.

Accountability | Policy | Community Outcomes

Since 2012, Social Mission Alliance (formerly known as Beyond Flexner) has brought together educators, administrators, clinicians, trainees, and students to transform health profession education in pursuit of health equity. Join us as we gather for our seventh annual conference, April 8-10, 2024 in Durham, NC with our co-host Duke University School of Nursing.
